Are we heading for Third World War (WW)?
Third World War, WWIII or WW3 is a conflict leading humanity towards third global military clash after the First World War (WWI) 1914 to 1918 and Second World War (WWII) in 1939 to 1945. The debate has been started right after the end of second world war. Some security think tanks had been applying it to limited or proxy conflicts such as the Cold War or the War on Terror. While others believe that such it will be a conflict that would surpass prior world wars both in its scope and destructive impact, leading towards mass extinction.
Natural Selection Pressure
Globalization created opportunities as well as insecurities. It enabled better-skilled people to win the benefits game over unskilled ones regardless of the borders and birthplace. Extremism is rising in the world, in various forms and shapes, from radicalization to racism, as a reaction to this opportunity offered by globalization. As a result, democracy is failing and fundamentalism is rising due to financial, social, psychological and existential insecurities for the people who are not ready, educated or skilled for the challenges of World becoming a global village. Disadvantaged people are voting out to stop it. It will not stop it but it will slow it down.
Identity Markers Redefinition
Globalization is challenging old identity definitions, based on Religion, State or Nation. This challenge has triggered an identity crisis in societies from the first world to the third world. People from America to Pakistan find themselves confused what it means to be an American, Pakistani, Christian or Muslim under new global order demanding collaboration from everyone regardless of their differences.
We are witnessing the bigots winning power in the United States, UK, India, Pakistan, Israel due to clash of Identity with Globalisation. It is going to an apex in next decade before finally diminishing in the second half of st century. The World is rapidly returning to a pre-first World War (WWI) politics. Doves are losing and hawks are winning. This will lead humanity into another world war-like situation. Which is natural. Things always get worse before they get better.
It will eventually lead us to the redefinition of identity markers and community concept. The new markers will be based on common social value instead of geography, race or religion-based. People will make communities not to become stronger or live longer (Survivalism) but to stay easy and live freely (Innovation).
Accept, Respect and Celebrate the Diversity
Two World Wars in the first half of the 20th century killed 120 million people. Lessons learned from those World Wars, are fading in mankind’s collective memory. That’s why the public is electing leaders with violent objectives or methods. This rise of hawkish leaders across the globe will lead humanity into another world war (or near world war situation) around the mid of this century. To stop that it’s important that we, the humans give space, respect and celebrate being different.
Victory Loves Preparation
There is no greatness in looking to reverse the wheel of time. An apocalypse will be a misery for everyone. Even the ones who think they are better off with the modern world will regret later it happened. However, there is a greatness in marching forward towards the future, transforming yourself according to the new challenges, learning new skills, becoming a new you ready to contribute for the better world in the future.
